Westerly Road Church is a nondenominational, evangelical, Great Commission church (Matt.
28:16-20) committed to winning, building, connecting and sending disciples for
Jesus Christ.In the context of this
vision, the Office Assistant works under the direction of the Executive
Administrator in supporting the staff, congregation, and WRC ministries.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
Like all members of the WRC
staff, the OA shall have a heart for knowing God personally, for following
Christ as a servant, and for keeping in step with the Spirit. The OA shall see
the office as a means for assisting the WRC congregation to fulfill God's plan
as it continues to expand and minister in the Princeton area. More
particularly, the OA shall be a person marked by the following qualities:

helpful, patient attitude that recognizes the main supportive function of
the OA position.
An ability to be
flexible regarding elements of the job description and time commitments.
A demonstrated ability

An ability to lead as

Ideally,
the OA shall become a member and regular attender of WRC.
QUALIFICATIONS
The
OA must meet the following standards:
1.Agreement with
the doctrinal statement and practices of WRC.
2.A minimum of a bachelor's
degree from a recognized college or university or an associate's degree with at
least two years of similar office experience.
3.Ability to
interact with people in a professional and courteous manner.
4.Ability to speak,
read and write English fluently and grammatically.
5.Ability to write
well and edit others' work.
6.Proficiency in
Microsoft applications such as Word, Publisher, Excel and Outlook.
7.Strong experience
with website content management.
8.Experience using
a database.
Preferred skills:
Experience in a similar office environment.
Experience using Adobe Photoshop and Animoto.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Interfaces professionally and courteously with the staff, congregation
and community face to face and by phone and e-mail.Most typically, will be the first
point-of-contact in the office for the congregation and community.
Maintains the integrity of the church database.Will enter data carefully and in a
timely manner.Will use the
database for ministry purposes on behalf of staff and ministry leaders: generate
labels and reports, send emails, and search for contact information.
Maintains and enlarges the church's ministry photo collection,
securing parental permissions, overseeing volunteer photographers, and manipulating
photos electronically using Adobe Photoshop for church publications.
Manages the church website by updating the content, entering
events, uploading and linking documents, uploading photos, managing event
registration, and adapting the content of the website to be user-friendly.
Assists with such jobs as copying, printing, preparing mailings,
organizing tasks, preparing birthday and anniversary postcards, keeping
the bulletin board/display racks in the church up to date, proofreading
and editing publications, conducting research, making on-line orders,
updating the weekly worship calendar, running necessary errands, sorting
and distributing office mail, and other tasks.
Creates, as needed, brochures, postcards, flyers, booklets,
transparencies, programs, spreadsheets, and other like projects.
Uses appropriately office technology such as printer, copy
machine, and fax, and is willing to troubleshoot when necessary.
Attends staff meetings, staff retreats, and conferences as a
member of the office staff.
REPORTING
This position shall report to
the Executive Administrator.
CLASSIFICATION
This position is a full-time,
exempt, salaried position.
